Science Slam: One Planet – Many Questions

At this Science Slam, researchers step out of their comfort zone and into the spotlight to present their work in the most vivid, accessible, and entertaining way possible. SyNergy Scientist Taisiia Nazarenko from DZNE Munich is one of the speakers taking part. Each speaker has just ten minutes and can use any aids – slides, props, live experiments, or whatever it takes to make complex ideas shine.

The topics? As diverse as the researchers behind them. From planetary health to strange research objects, unexpected discoveries, and big questions about our world. The only rules: make it clear, make it engaging, make it memorable. In the end, the audience decides who has delivered the most compelling performance.

The winner and runner-up will take the stage once again at the GC Speed Slam — a fast-paced 3-minute PhD Pitch — during the EUGLOH event (October 21–24, 2026), showcasing their research to an international audience. The GC Speed Slam itself takes place on October 22. For more details about the event, please visit the Graduate Center website.

Slammers are: Sabrina Benz (Psychology), Yueli Chen (Geography), Joanna Hunsmann (Psychology), Taisiia Nazarenko (Neuroscience), Joseline Palafox (Plant Sciences), Carly Russell (Ecology), Aoxian Wang (Political Science)

Chair: Lena Bouman (CAS LMU) and Florian Kniffka (LMU GC)

The event is part of the CAS Research Focus “Planetary Health” and is organized together with the LMU Graduate Center.
