Workshop

Data Management Plans (DMPs)

A hands-on, actionable workshop for researchers

Date: July 2nd 2026 (Thursday)

Time: 14:00 to 16:00

Location: Small Seminar Room 8G U1 106

The planning of a research project and the management of one’s own data bring many advantages in everyday research. This workshop introduces key aspects of research data management plans (DMPs), and highlights how thoughtful planning can support efficient, transparent, and sustainable practices throughout the research lifecycle.

Participants will gain an overview of the purpose and value of DMPs, with a discipline-specific focus. In addition, they will become familiar with web-based tools that support the creation and maintenance of DMPs, such as the Research Data Management Organiser (RDMO) (https://rdmo.ub.lmu.de/). The interactive session will combine conceptual insights with opportunities for hands-on engagement, where participants will develop a draft DMP for their own research projects in a collaborative setting.

The workshop will be conducted jointly by Laura Meier (LMU University Library), Reema Gupta (LMU) and Aditi Methi (SyNergy). It aims to enable participants to reflect on data and project management challenges within their own research projects, and explore practical approaches to addressing them.
