Open Position: Postdoc position on the role of chemokine receptors in cardiovascular disease
University Hospital of Munich (LMU)
12.10.2022
The University Hospital of Munich (LMU), is one of the largest and most competitive university hospitals in Germany and Europe. 47 specialized hospitals, departments and institutions harboring excellent research and education provide patient care at the highest medical level with approximately 10.000 employees.
The Institute for Cardiovascular Prevention in Munich offers a
Postdoc position on the role of chemokine receptors
in cardiovascular disease
(m/f/d) in full-time - (Start: immediately)
A Postdoc position is available to study the role of chemokine receptor CCR8 in chronic inflammation. CCR8, mainly expressed on regulatory T cells (Tregs), follicular T helper cells and innate lymphoid cells (ILC), a rare cell population closely related to T and B lymphocytes, is known to bind CCL1 and CCL18. To further characterize CCR8-dependent immune functions of immune cell subsets in chronic vascular inflammation, we now aim to investigate the role of CCR8 and its ligands on group 2 ILCs (ILC2s) in atherosclerosis and perivascular adipose tissue inflammation. Using atherosclerosis as a disease model for chronic inflammation, the project will interrogate the cell-specific (neutrophils, monocytes and dendritic cells) and systemic effects of both receptors in inflammatory responses in atherogenesis and atheroprogression in mouse models and human samples.
The postdoc position is part of the SFB 1123 http://www.sfb1123.med.uni-muenchen.de/index.html and therefore offers excellent scientific collaborations.
