SyNergy Awards

Awards for female PhD students and postdocs

SyNergy announces annual awards for outstanding female PhD students and postdocs (directly employed by SyNergy members). Awards for PhD students provide funding for lab interviews. Awards for postdocs provide an opportunity to begin an independent research project.

PhD Award

Objective: Travel money (up to 2.000,-- €) to interview for a postdoctoral position in up to four different labs.

Eligibility: For female students completing their PhDs within SyNergy labs; must have recently graduated or be graduating within the upcoming year

Terms: Applications for this competitive program will be selected by the SyNergy Gender Board and approved by the SyNergy Board. Application should include:

- CV
- List of publications
- Two letters of recommendation
- Short justification of the choice of labs to be visited
- Invitation of the lab
- Cost estimate

Previous award recipients may not reapply.

Deadline: April 1 annually


Advanced Postdoc Award

Objective: Seed funds (up to 7.500, € for consumables and/or student assistants) for a new research project that will be independent of the main project or PI/AI's interest

Eligibility: For outstanding advanced female postdocs (directly employed by SyNergy members)

Terms: Applications for this competitive program will be selected by the SyNergy Gender Board and approved by the SyNergy Board. Application should include:

- CV including
- List of visible publications during postdoc
- Two letters of recommendation
- Project proposal (short description of the planned project, 2 pages max.)
- Statement how this award would support the career and independence of the applicant

Previous award recipients may not reapply.

Deadline: April 1 each year
